Subeez, on the corner of Homer and Smithe near Vancouver’s Yaletown, is a large venue with a cosy feel.
Candles, art and an eclectic mix of furniture work together to create a comfortable and intimate ambiance in what could have otherwise been an overwhelmingly large space.
The offshoot of sister venue Wasubeez on Commercial Drive, Subeez offers a large range of cuisines on their menu, from pasta and burgers, to BC Albacore Tuna and Truffled Tofu.
Rather than doing one thing well, Subeez has chosen to do many things adequately. Diners will not be disappointed with their selection, but will not be returning to Subeez for the cuisine.
The drinks list is quite good with a range of beers on tap and in bottles, wines, spirits and cocktails.
Subeez also offer a brunch menu from 10am until 4pm daily, with most items hovering around $10. The granola and seasonal fruit is a little lacking in the yogurt department, but incredibly tasty and filling. The breakfast burrito is satisfying, if a little bland.
If after works drinks are your thing, then Subeez is definitely the place to go. Share some appetizers, have a few beverages and take in the surrounds.
Overall most visitors will enjoy their visit at Subeez and will leave with no complaints, but due to a slight lacking in the menu they may not be back.
Subeez open hours: 10am – 1am Monday – Saturday and 10am – midnight on Sundays. Phone 604 687 6107.
