Main Street's Cascade Room: Casual Dining & Top Cuisine

The Cascade Room has been a staple for Main Street diners and drinkers for many years. Its popularity is growing continually, as people discover the raw charm of Main Street and the dining experience that is The Cascade Room.

An unassuming front belies the cavernous interior, with its red, papered walls, cosy booths and friendly bar atmosphere. The huge windows at the front of the restaurant and a large skylight overhead provide ample natural light during the day. And during summer, as we know, daylight lasts a long time in Vancouver.

The servers are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable on all menu items (including the wine list, which is a pleasant surprise). They are also happy to organise slight changes in any of the menu items to suit particular dietary needs.

Speaking of the wine list, it is incredibly well-rounded, with a nice selection of BC wines, as well as some good international favourites. Not only this, it is also reasonably priced, with a Kettle Valley Merlot at only $10 a glass (total bargain!)

If wine is not your thing, try one of The Cascade Room's reputed cocktails. The Cascade Room was voted #1 for Most Imaginative Cocktails/Tropical Drinks in the Georgia Straight Golden Plate awards, and #2 in Best Place for a Stiff Drink.

The food selection is fresh, innovative and simple. There are selections for vegetarians, fish eaters, and carnivores alike. And, these too are reasonably priced considering the quality of ingredients. One particular standout is the Pistachio Crusted Pacific Halibut with mushroom strudel, broccolini and red pepper sauce. And, for only $19 you really can't go wrong!

On evenings (especially weekends) potential patrons will find The Cascade Room packed to the gills - with good reason. But, if you don't mind a small wait it will be well worth your while.

The Cascade Room is at 2616 Main Street, between 10th and 11th Ave.
