Joe's Grill on Denman Street, Vancouver

Like their counter part on 4th Ave in Kitsilano, Joe's Grill on Denman Street in Vancouver's West End lives up to the traditional diner experience. The menu offers the same favourites; from two eggs and bacon/sausage/ham to omelettes, burgers and a huge stack of pancakes, there will be something for every taste.

There is generally a small line up for a table, but don't worry, it will be gone before too long. One of the keys to Joe's popularity is the amazingly quick and efficient service - it's like the waitstaff operate using ESP. You think you want coffee, you got coffee.

Diners seat themselves at Joe's grill once a table becomes free, then the coffee and menus are brought immediately. Choosing what to eat will probably be the longest wait of the brunch experience as the friendly staff will soon be back to take your order. However, they are always happy to wait a little longer over deliberations.

Oh, and one small hint - definitely arrive at Joe's Grill with an empty stomach - the portions are massive - enough to stump even the heartiest eater. This, combined with the extremely affordable price tag, makes Joe's Grill a no-brainer for a lazy Sunday brunch (it's also the perfect cure for a few too many the night before!)

And happily, while Joe's Grill on 4th may not seem to quite fit into the trendy Kitsilano vibe, it certainly fits in with the eclectic mix of businesses throughout the West End. Joe's Grill is at 948 Denman Street, Vancouver. Tel: 604-642-6588.
